Kindergarten-6th Grades
Being a student at Jubilee means learning in a place where curiosity is celebrated, creativity is everywhere, and every child’s voice is known and valued. From Kindergarten through sixth grade, students experience enriching and meaningful days filled with joy, discovery, and community.
A Day in The Life at Jubilee
At Jubilee, classrooms buzz with conversation and ideas, students learn through hands-on projects and real-world connections, and there’s always something exciting to look forward to. We believe learning should be engaging, relevant, and should build upon children's natural curiosity, and our students feel that every day.
No two days at Jubilee are exactly the same, but each day follows a rhythm that balances academics, creativity, outdoor play, and reflection. Below is a sample schedule of a Jubilee student!
-
Upon arrival, students are greeted at the front door by our admin team. Starting the day with a warm welcome is essential to a successful day.
-
All classes begin with morning meeting. The day begins together as a community through sharing, conversation, and activities that build connection and set a positive tone.
-
Students read, write, discuss, and explore stories, building strong literacy skills while developing their voices as readers and writers.
-
A short break to refuel, socialize, and recharge before jumping back into learning.
-
Students engage in hands-on problem solving, games, and collaboration to deepen their understanding of mathematical thinking.
-
In social studies, students explore history, communities, and the world around them through discussion, projects, and inquiry-based learning.
In science students investigate the world around them through hands-on experiments, observation, questioning, and discussion, building curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of discovery.
-
Students enjoy lunch together and spend time outdoors, often heading to Clark Park for play, movement, and fresh air.
-
Every day is a different special! Whether it’s music, visual art, drumming, dance, or yoga, students express themselves creatively and engaging their bodies and minds.
-
Another chance to recharge after recess and specials!
-
Our younger students have a chance in the afternoon to choose from centers, block building, collaborative projects, and outdoor play.
Our older students might get started on homework, meet individually with a teacher, or work on a project with their classmates.
-
As the day is coming to an end, students reflect on their day, pack up their things, and get ready for dismissal.
-
Excited to see their families, but sad to leave school, students who are not staying for afterschool programming head home, eager to see what tomorrow brings.
While the schedule varies by grade, they all follow a similar structure, with most academic learning happening in the morning, and arts based education happening in the afternoon.

Learning Together: Our All-School Study
Every year, Jubilee students take part in a shared, all-school study centered around a big idea. This theme weaves its way into classrooms across grade levels, connecting subjects and bringing the whole school together around common questions and explorations.
This year’s all-school study, “Visions of Tomorrow: Studying the Past, Imagining the Future Through the Lens of Afrofuturism,” invites students to explore how history and the present shape what’s possible for the future. Students study Afrofuturist artists, writers, and art styles, and imagine what the future could be. At the end of the year, students will share their thinking through creative projects—paintings, poems, plays, stories, and more.
