Student Bill of RightsStudent Bill of Rights and Responsibilities(Students wrote a Bill of Rights which now functions as our Student Handbook:) 1. Students have the right to be respected for their differences. Everybody has the responsibility to respect one another. 2. We children have the right to feel safe and protected, and to have our personal space respected. Everybody has the responsibility not to tease, fight, invade someone’s personal space or talk about others in a bad way. 3. All people have the right to feel secure that their belongings are safe and not misused or used without permission. Everyone has the responsibility to respect other people’s property. 4. Students have the right to feel comfortable in their environment, and not to be irritated by other students. Every child has the right to tell someone to stop doing things that are annoying. 5. Every child has the right to a quiet and stable learning environment. We all have the responsibility not to distract or take away from someone’s learning time. 6. Everybody has the right to a clean, orderly and healthy environment. Each person has the responsibility to clean up after themselves. 7. All persons have the right to a fair investigation of a situation in which they’ve been accused. Each one of us has the responsibility to make sure all sides in a conflict have been heard. 8. All children have the right to play with each other. Everybody has the responsibility not to exclude anybody. 9. Everybody has a right to peace. All people have a responsibility to respect other people’s peace. 10. All children have a right to wear what they like. People have a responsibility to dress appropriately. 11. Everybody has the right to be treated with respect. We all have the responsibility to respect others. 12. All children have the right to say what they want to change about their classroom. Every child has the responsibility to speak their mind. 13. All children have the right to go to school and learn. Everybody has the responsibility not to take school for granted. 14. Every child has the right to be happy in school. People have the responsibility to respect everyone’s happiness. 15. Everybody has the right to be treated kindly. People have the responsibility to treat others the way they want to be treated. |
